Terezin Small Fortress

Political prisoners were housed in the Small Fortress, an 18th-century structure, in Terezin, a town about an hour north of Prague. The town itslef was turned into a Jewish Ghetto. Nazis convinced representatives of the Red Cross who visited in 1944 that the town was a "self-administered Jewish settlement territory."
